Dragon Attractors began from a brief that required the creation of 7 garments for the New York Fashion Week 2022 which were to be distributed on the blockchain together with a limited number of NFTs to end users.
" In the quest to survive the climate of Mars, our collection of Mars garments is based on “strange attractors”.Mathematical formulas to calculate chaos, used for the prediction of weather. These computer generated clothes are crafted from advanced techniques such as lasercutting and 3D printing. But also shaped with traditional approaches such as textile print, leather and wool. MetaMarsTowns utilizes the blockchain and a limited number of released NFTs to distribute the 7 outfits to end users.”
We at IT Pieces developed the 7 designs based on mars-atmosphere data through the mathematical formula of ‘strange attractors’.
Strange attractors are calculations of chaos and used to forecast dynamic situations like the weather. With these designs we develop a data driven tool that reacts to weather data. The tool potentially evolves into garments for Mars, functionally and aesthetically reacting to the weather forecast to protect the wearer.
With these designs we develop a data driven tool that reacts to weather data. We coded the garments shapes and prints by connecting weather data to the mathematical formula of strange attractors, visualising the paths with tools like Blender and Touchdesigner.
The results of these calculation paved way to the creation of chaos flows. Different stills of these flows then created the patterns for the garments. Utilising them for construction and inspiring volumes. Materialised by the use of laser cutting and 3D printing as well as more tradition methods such as textile printing, leather overlays and wool.
